The Joy of Service gives us a view of service often missed by the world. It is though service to others that we gain joyfulness in our own life. In reading you will find strength and a desire to at first search out ways to serve others. In time your life will be one of service without thought and one of peace. THESE fragments of lessons may have their mission of helpfulness to some who are earnestly striving to grow into a braver, truer, richer-hearted life, and to become inspirers of others in their efforts and struggles. James Russell Miller was a popular Christian author, Editorial Superintendent of the Presbyterian Board of Publication, and pastor of several churches in Pennsylvania and Illinois. He was the General field Agent for the United States Christian Commission, an organization established by the Young Men's Christian Association after the First Battle of Bull Run. Miller authored nearly 100 books and articles.
