Lillian Garis was an American author who wrote hundreds of books of juvenile fiction between 1915 and the early 1940's. She used the pseudonyms Margaret Penrose and Laura Lee Hope when writing for the Stratemeyer Syndicate. After the success of the Motor Boys series the Stratmeyer syndicate began a similar series for girls.
