Über den Autor
Woody Guthrie (1912-1967) wrote more than three thousand folk songs, ballads and children's songs. His homespun humour and earthy, activist songwriting set the stage for the folk music explosion of the 1960s and profoundly influenced many popular recording artists, particularly Bob Dylan, John Mellencamp and Bruce Springsteen. This Land is Your Land, his most famous song, has been performed in various versions by a wide variety of artists including Neil Young, Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings and even Lady Gaga. His musical legacy endures as countless musicians, activists, teachers and families continue to discover and sing his songs. The Woody Guthrie Center opened in Tulsa, Oklahoma in 2013.Kathy Jakobsen is one of the premier folk artists in the United States. She is the creator of My New York, Johnny Appleseed, and My Washington, DC and her oil paintings have been exhibited across the United States, Europe and Japan. The American Folk Art Museum called Kathy one of the best landscape folk painters of the century in their Encyclopedia of Twentieth-Century American Folk Art and Artists.
