Being born at the height of The Great Depression and having a mother not long survive the birth would normally not be the way to get a start in life. However Bobby Kennedy was born as the second son of a successful business man who had been in one of the few businesses which thrived then - the motion picture theatre business. He grew up in a rather closed southern society under the wing of a stepmother from age four. At the University of Alabama he majored in physics which was in vogue at the time the Russians had launched Sputnik and had gotten the jump on the Americans during the Cold War. With a minor in music (piano) he became the first student to graduate with that combination from the university. Following college he went through Naval OCS and became a nuclear bombardier-navigator. He won the Navy E in 1958 in that role. During his Mediterranean cruise aboard the Forrestal he met his French bride Charlotte who worked in the movies at the film studio in Nice. Following law school Bob and his young family moved to Silicon Valley where he worked in the high tech industry as a patent attorney. From there he moved the family back south to Atlanta where he continued his career as an intellectual lawyer until his retirement. The autobiography narrates his life's journey and thinking as he encountered his many adventures along the way.
