Über den Autor
KURT MAHRKlaus Mahn alias Kurt Mahr galt als der Physiker des PERRY RHODAN-Teams. 1934 in Frankfurt geboren, begann er nach seinem Abitur zunächst ein Bauingenieurstudium, wechselte jedoch ab dem Sommersemester 1956 zur Physik über. Mit dem akademischen Grad des Diplom-Physikers in der Tasche siedelte Kurt Mahr in die USA über, um dort einen Job bei der Firma Pratt & Whitney anzutreten.Seine schriftstellerische Laufbahn begann Ende der 50er Jahre mit Liebes- und Westernromanen, allerdings ohne großen Erfolg. Der stellte sich erst ein, als er zur Science Fiction wechselte. 1960 erschien sein Roman Zeit wie Sand in der Heftserie Terra, 1961 der PERRY RHODAN-Roman Band Atom-Alarm (5).Seine Physikkenntnisse prägten die Serie, seine Romane zeichneten sich durch exakte technisch-wissenschaftliche Extrapolation aus. Der Autor lebte bis 1972 in den USA und kehrte im September mit seiner Familie nach Deutschland zurück. Im gleichen Jahr begann seine Mitarbeit bei ATLAN, der Schwesterserie von PERRY RHODAN. In der Folge publizierte Kurt Mahr fast ausschließlich PERRY RHODAN-Romane für die Heft- und Taschenbuchreihe sowie ATLAN-Romane. Ab 1985 schrieb Kurt Mahr, der im Jahr 1977 wieder nach Amerika zurückgegangen war, zusammen mit Ernst Vlcek die Exposés für PERRY RHODAN. Über eineinhalb Jahrzehnte lang verfaßte er die PERRY RHODAN-Computer.Kurt Mahr starb 1993 in Florida an den Folgen eines Unfalls. Ihm widmete Johnny Bruck das Titelbild des Jubiläumsbandes Möbius (1700).
