This volume makes a challenging critique of the idea of Cosmopolis - that is, the idea of world or 'global' government. In recent years this idea has been put forward as a way of averting the threat of war and international disorder, and as a way of avoiding the destruction of the planet. Proponents of this idea call for a radical reform of the United Nations which aims to legitimize this institution as an international police force and as a provider of global justice. Über den Autor
Danilo Zolo (Rijeka, 1936) studied jurisprudence at the University of Florence and in 1966 he obtained the Teacher's Diploma in History and Philosophy. He has been Associate Researcher at Boston University, and Visiting Fellow at the University of Cambridge, University of Pittsburgh, Harvard University and the University of Princeton. He is author of many essays concerning political philosophy, epistemology of the social sciences, General system theory, theory of social complexity, and philosophy of international law and international relations.
