Psychological Treatment and the Haredi Community

The articles that appear in this book were authored by religious and haredi mental health professionals who were employed in a community mental health clinic under haredi auspices. The topics discussed in this book include the special considerations and problems in treating patients from the haredi community, attitudes of rabbis toward psychological treatment, descriptions of innovative treatment interventions in the treatment of haredi and religious patients and responsa of respected rabbis to conflicts and questions raised by religious staff members regarding halacha and treatment interventions, amongst others. D., is a psychotherapist and certified family therapist in private practice. In the past, she worked as a psychiatric social in public mental health facilities, supervised and trained social work students in psychotherapy, led therapy groups and administered a treatment center for children and adolescents. She also lectured in a religious teacher's college and published articles in professional journals, and edited Psychotherapy and Judaism (Golden Sky Books, 2012) with Seymour Hoffman.
