Über den Autor
Annika Marlen Hinze is Assistant Professor of Political Science and the Director of the Urban Studies Program at Fordham University, USA. Her research and teaching focus on urban politics, the politics of immigration, qualitative methods, urban economic development, poverty, and minority politics. She is co-author (with Dennis Judd) of pioneering urban politics textbook City Politics, 10e (Routledge, 2018) and co-editor (with James Smith) of the well-loved reader American Urban Politics in a Global Age (Routledge, 2018). Hinze's first book, Turkish Berlin (2013), compares integration policy and lived integration of second generation Turk-Germans in two Berlin neighborhoods. Hinze has also published in the Journal of Ethnic and Migration Studies, Studies in Ethnicity and Nationalism, and co-edited a special issue on North American Urban Politics in Urban Research and Practice (2013).James M. Smith is Associate Professor of Political Science at Indiana University South Bend, USA. His research focuses on urban governance and institutions in US cities. His research has appeared in the Journal of Urban Affairs and the Urban Affairs Review, and he was guest editor (with Annika Marlen Hinze) of a special issue of Urban Research and Practice focused on urban politics in North America. Smith teaches courses in the political science department focused on American political institutions, and in the Master of Public Affairs program on urban planning and public policy. He has also served as the acting director of the American Democracy Project at IU South Bend.
