The former aspire to sacred power, but frequently impugn morality, rather than enhance it, both by offering misleading moral direction and by playing upon human fear. The latter often exceed the limits of secular power and again impugn morality, by treating some objectives as absolutes, by contravening the legitimate use of force, and by pursuing immoral policies generally.
