James B Johnson, M.D., an instructor in plastic surgery in the U.S., retired after more than twenty years in private practice to pursue his long-time interest in alternate-day calorie restriction. After witnessing many of his patients struggle with their weight, he became committed to finding a way for them to achieve a healthy body weight and improve their health without the stress and difficulty of complying with traditional diets.
