Watty Piper was a pseudonym used by the publishing house Platt & Munk, who played an important part in the early development of the picture book market with the publication of the Never Grow Old Series of children?s hardcover picture books. Beginning in 1930, the nine book series included retellings of several Mother Goose stories, and also included a ?new? edition of Helen Bannerman?s Little Black Sambo, illustrated by Eulalie Banks.
