The Author: Edward H. Friedman is Professor of Spanish and Comparative Literature at Indiana University. His research centers on Early Modern Spanish literature and contemporary narrative. His publications include The Unifying Concept: Approaches to Cervantes' Comedias and The Antiheroines's Voice: Narrative Discourse and Transformations of the Picaresque. He is editor of Bulletin of the Comediantes and vice president of the Cervantes Society of America.
