Quest for Power Retired Colonel Ronald Haines has capped off a highly decorated military career by carving out a lucrative niche for himself as a designer and manufacturer of military radar technology. The patriarch of a three-generation military family, Haines is living the American dream for which he's fought so valiantly. But the colonel's relative peace is soon shattered when his grandson's wife is brutally murdered in what is deemed a random burglary gone wrong. Haines refuses to accept the FBI's conclusion. With the help of former military associates, his director of security and the victim's beautiful twin sister, Haines launches his own full-scale investigation - an investigation that uncovers more than a botched home invasion turned homicide. It's a web of political scandal that leads him along a trail of treasonous corruption pointing all the way to the White House itself. ... Quest for Power: a Thriller by James Herbert Harrison is a no-talk, all-show political thriller in the tradition of Stephen Coontz and Vince Flynn that eschews over-analysis in favor of page-turning action. Rooted in reality, Quest for Power is a cautionary tale of the dangers of a central government that has grown too large and too powerful, powerful enough to bring down the world's greatest nation.
