Richard L. Knight is professor of wildlife conservation at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado. He is co-editor of Wildlife and Recreationists (Island Press, 1995) and A New Century for Natural Resource Management (Island Press, 1995). Peter B. Landres is research ecologist at the USDA Forest Service Aldo Leopold Wilderness Research Institute in Missoula, Montana.
