Über den Autor
Born a slave, Ida B. Wells-Barnett (1862-1931) became one of the nineteenth century's most powerful voices for justice against the brutality of lynching. Her unflinching journalistic accounts shed light on the evils and persistence of racism in a country still reeling from the Civil War. As a dedicated civil rights advocate, Wells-Barnett was one of the original founders of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. In 2020, she was posthumously awarded the Pulitzer Prize for her outstanding and courageous reporting on the horrific and vicious violence against African Americans during the era of lynching.
