Ma Jian
Beijing Coma
Buch
A strange and seminal novel about the Tiananmen Sqaure protests. Dai Wei is a medical student who is caught by a bullet whilst protesting and falls into a deep coma for almost a decade, waking to find the China he once knew has changed, irrevocably and forever. A story of politics, madness, mothers and dreamworlds, this is an acknowledged modern masterpiece of Chinese literature. 'Made my heart thump.' TLS.
