John McCrae (Dodo Press)
Sir Andrew Macphail (1864-1938) was a Canadian physician, author, professor of medicine and soldier. He received his medical degree from McGill University in 1891. In 1907, he was appointed McGill's first Professor of the History of Medicine and served in this position until 1937. In 1911, he became the founding editor of the Canadian Medical Association Journal. During World War I, he served with the Canadian Army Medical Corps and was later awarded a knighthood.
