Ibn Khall d was a disciple of the famous Mu tazil theologian, Ab H shim al-Jubb (d. 933). His otherwise lost theological summa, K. al-U l, has reached us embedded in the Ziy d t Shar al-U l by the Zayd Im m al-N iq bi-l- aqq (d. 1033). This volume contains an editio princeps of this text.

Über den Autor
Camilla Adang (Ph.D. Nijmegen), is Senior Lecturer in Islamic Studies at Tel Aviv University. Her publications on Islamic intellectual history and law include Muslim Writers on Judaism and the Hebrew Bible. From Ibn Rabban to Ibn Hazm (Brill, 1996) Wilferd Madelung (Ph.D. Hamburg) is Laudian Professor of Arabic, University of Oxford (emeritus). He has published extensively on the early history of Islam and on religious movements in medieval Islam, including Religious and Ethnic Movements in Medieval Islam (Ashgate Variorum, 1992) Sabine Schmidtke (D.Phil. Oxford) is Professor of Islamic Studies, Freie Universitat Berlin. She has published widely on Islamic and Jewish intellectual history, including Theologie, Philosophie und Mystik im Zwolferschiitischen Islam des 9./15.
