Über den Autor
ERNST VLCEKErnst Vlcek ist 1941 in Wien geboren. Nach der Schulausbildung und Absolvierung einer kaufmännischen Lehre war er in verschiedenen manuellen Berufen tätig. Schon in jungen Jahren begeisterte sich der Autor für die Science Fiction. Eine seiner ersten Kurzgeschichte hatte den Titel Es kommt eine kleine Überraschung.Für Ernst Vlcek bot sich zunächst die Möglichkeit, seine Werke innerhalb des Fandoms zu veröffentlichen. 1966 erschien sein erster Roman Der kosmische Vagabund, weitere Veröffentlichungen folgten. Zwei Jahre später ergab es sich für den Österreicher, bei den PERRY RHODAN-Taschenbüchern mitzuschreiben. Mit diesem erfolgreichen Roman Planet unter Quarantäne (46) schaffte er den Einstieg in die PERRY RHODAN-Heftserie. Sein erster Roman war Die Banditen von Terrania. 1970 folgte der Einstieg bei ATLAN, parallel dazu konzipierte er mit seinem Schriftstellerkollegen Kurt Luif die Horrorserie Dämonenkiller. In den darauffolgenden Jahren seines Schaffens entwickelte er den bekannten SF-Zyklus Sternensaga. 1980 wurde ihm die Exposéarbeit der Fantasyserie Mythor anvertraut und auch an Dragon hat er mitgearbeitet. Bei PERRY RHODAN stieg er ab Der gute Geist von Magellan (1211) mit Thomas Ziegler in die Exposéarbeit ein. Zwei Jahre später bekam er mit Kurt Mahr einen neuen Exposéautor zur Seite gestellt, auf den Robert Feldhoff folgte. Auf dem PERRY RHODAN WeltCon 2000, erklärte er seinen Rücktritt aus der Exposé-Redaktion, im Jahre 2004 schließlich zog er sich schließlich auch aus dem Autorenteam zurück - in einen von eigenen schriftstellerischen Projekten Ruhestand.Am Vormittag des 22. April 2008 ist der ehemalige PERRY RHODAN-Chefautor Ernst Vlcek unerwartet in Wien gestorben.
