Multiple Scattering Theory

Electronic structure of solids

Ebook (EPUB Format)

In1947, it was discovered that multiple scattering theory (MST) can be used to solvethe Schröedinger equation for the stationary states of electrons in a solid. Writtenby experts in the field, J S Faulkner, G Malcolm Stocks and Yang Wang, thisbook collates the results of numerous studies in the field of MST and provides a comprehensive, systematic approach toit. Formany scientists, students and engineers working with multiple scatteringprogrammes, this will be a useful guide to help expand the existing knowledgeof MST as well as understanding its future implications.

Über den Autor

J S Faulkner obtained his PhD in physics from The Ohio State University and he is currently a professor emeritus of Florida Atlantic University. Faulkner has celebrated a career in physics of over five decades and hasnumerous publications in professional journals and articles. G M Stocks gained his PhD in theoretical physics from the University of Sheffield and he is a corporate fellow at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. Stocks is a majordeveloper of a number of first-principles electronic structure methods and has been published in numerous scientific publications.Yang Wangobtained his physics PhD from Florida Atlantic University and he is currently a seniorcomputational scientist at Pittsburgh Supercomputing Centre. Notably, Wang developeda linear scaling quantum mechanical simulation code to study electronic andmagnetic structures of metals and alloys.
