Über den Autor
Shahid Mumtaz is a Senior Researcher and EU Project Manager with the Instituto de Telecomunicacoes, in Aveiro, Portugal, working in the areas of radio resource management, quality of service provision, and performance evaluation in wireless and mobile networks, with emphasis on cognitive radios, short range and cooperative communications. Dr. shahid obtained his Master and Ph.D. from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Blekinge Institute of Technology Sweden and University of Aveiro, Portugal, in January 2009. In January 2010, he joined the Institute of Telecommunications as a Senior Researcher. He is currently the Technical Manager of the CELTIC project Green-T. Dr.Shahid is the author of several journal and conference publications, as well as patents. He is an active IEEE member, acting as TPC member and reviewer for a number of respected conferences, journals, and magazines. Dr. Shahid has also previously organized a number of workshops. JONATHAN RODRIGUEZ received his Master's degree in Electronic and Electrical Engineering and Ph.D from the University of Surrey (UK), in 1998 and 2004 respectively. In 2002, he became a Research Fellow at the Centre for Communication Systems Research at Surrey and responsible for managing the system level research component in the IST MATRICE, 4MORE and MAGNET projects. Since 2005, he is a Senior Researcher at the Instituto de Telecomunicacoes - Aveiro (Portugal), where he is leading the 4TELL Wireless Communication Research Group. He is the project coordinator for the ICT C2POWER project, technical manager of ICT COGEU and technical workpackage leader in ICT WHERE2 and Celtic MOBILIA. He was also the project coordinator of the Celtic LOOP Project, and technical workpackage leader in ICT WHERE, HURRICANE, PEACE. He is author of more than 100 conference, journal and book chapter publications, has carried out consultancy for major manufacturers participating in DVB-T/H and HS-UPA standardisation and has been guest editor for several prestigious journals. His research interests include Radio Access Networks for current and beyond 3G systems with specific emphasis on Radio Resource Management, Digital Signal Processing and PHY/MAC optimization strategies.
