The novel touches on strengths and weaknesses of characters mixed with vulnerabilities and struggles to stay free. Divided in three stages, the novel regurgitates recorded life of the man; unravels Hannah's life from childhood to womanhood and follows Charlotte's life after his death. Though some of the story is fictional, a greater amount is factual. So-called facts already written and published by Historians are embellished here. No reason stands in the way to disbelieve Hannah and Charlotte's reports, written before but never published. Much has already been written about Mr. Jackson.
