ROBERT C. EVANS is I. B. Young Professor of English at Auburn University Montgomery, USA. He is the author or editor of approximately thirty books and has won a number of teaching awards. He has been awarded fellowships by the Folger, Huntington, Newberry, and Yale Beinecke libraries and from the American Council of Learned Societies, the American Philosophical Society, the National Endowment for the Humanities, and the UCLA Center for Medieval and Renaissance Studies.
