From the Western Front to Salonika: A French Soldier Writes Home (1914-1918)
The book's editor, Catherine Labaume-Howard, found 300 of her grandfather's letters in an old potato sack when a family home was sold. The author of the letters, Pierre Suberviolle, was from Montauban in the South of France. He joined the army on 7 August 1914, without his father¿s permission, when he was only 17. He wrote to his family (and particularly to his mother) regularly during the next 51 months. Mobilised as a car and truck driver, he fought on the Western and Northern Fronts of France.
