Understanding HIV and STI Prevention for College Students
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, young people aged 18 to 25 are at a significant risk for acquiring and transmitting HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) and other STIs (sexually transmitted infections). Primary developmental processes that place college students particularly at risk include the experience of intimacy, sexual desires and the centrality of the peer group. His research examines access, equity, retention, persistence, and the college experience of racial and ethnic minorities, particularly Black men and other student groups at historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs). Dina C. Maramba is Associate Professor of Student Affairs Administration and Asian and Asian American Studies at the State University of New York at Binghamton, USA. Her research focuses on access and success of underserved college students; Asian Americans/Pacific Islanders and Filipina/o Americans in higher education; and equity, diversity, and social justice issues in higher education.
