The Global Jihad Movement

Dr. Rohan Gunaratna is Professor of Security Studies and head of the International Centre for Political Violence and Terrorism Research at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore. He is also a member of the Steering Committee of George Washington University's Homeland Security Policy Institute and serves on the Advisory Board of the International Centre for Counter-Terrorism, The Hague, He is the author and editor of 15 books including Inside Al Qaeda: Global Network of Terror (Columbia University Press). Admiral William McRaven appointed him to the International Senior Advisory Panel of the US Special Operations Command in 2013. For advancing international security cooperation, he received the Major General Ralph H. Van Deman Award in 2014. Aviv Oreg, a veteran of the Israeli intelligence community, headed the al-Qaeda and global jihad desk in the Analysis and Research Division of the IDF Intelligence Branch. Following his discharge from the military, he founded CeifiT (Civil Effort in Fighting International Terrorism), which advises international- governmental, institutional and private - entities on issues relating to confronting global jihad and al-Qaeda threat. Oreg is a member of the advisory council of the terrorism and insurgency project of Imperial College Press in London and serves as a guest lecturer in academic and security institutions around the world. Mr. Oreg has published several publications in recent years among them the Memorandum Al Qaeda odyssey to Global Jihad (co-authored with Yoram Schweitzer) that has been published by the Israeli institution for national security studies (INSS) In January 2014.
