Norah Bingham has just moved to a new town with her mom. Going to a new school to finish her seventh grade year, Norah misses her old friends and family back home. To keep her busy over the winter break, Norah's mom sends her to stay with Great Aunt Caroline, an aunt she's never met. Upon arriving, Norah quickly learns that retired librarian Aunt Caroline hasn't had friends, let alone guests, in years and seems to find her great niece to be nothing but a burden to her daily routine. Norah is often left to entertain herself, so she explores the property and the small nearby town.
