Ceil Lucas is Professor of Linguistics in the Department of ASL, Linguistics, and Interpretation at Gallaudet University. Robert Bayley is Professor of Sociolinguistics in the Division of Bicultural-Bilingual Studies at the University of Texas at San Antonio. T. X.
