Carl Freedman is the William A. Read professor of English literature at Louisiana State University, and the author of many books, essays and reviews. His most recent volumes are Versions of Hollywood Crime Cinema (Intellect, 2013) and Art and Idea in the Novels of China Miéville (Gylphi Limited, 2015).
