William Perry Brown (1847-1923) was an American author and reporter. He attended Madison College but didn't graduate. He worked as a reporter for several newspapers: St. Louis Globe Democrat, New Orleans Picayune, New York Globe and then a foreign correspondent for the New York Herald. At first he began free-lance writing then he wrote for various magazines including the Springfield Republican, Ainslee's Magazine, Golden Days, Woman's World, Chicago Ledger, Banner Weekly, Housewife, People's Home Journal and others.
