Über den Autor
Laura Nuño de la Rosa, PhD, is a philosopher of biology with empirical experience in the field of evo-devo. Her main interests are the history and philosophy of morphology, embryology and evolutionary biology. In 2010 she obtained a Masters Degree in Biophysics at the Autonomous University of Madrid. Her master project on The Origin of Paired Fins, supervised by Prof. Gerd B. Müller and Dr. Brian Metscher, was carried out in the Department of Theoretical Biology, University of Vienna. In 2012 she defended her PhD dissertation on The Problem of Organismal Form in Contemporary Biology, supervised by Prof. José Luis González Recio (Complutense University, Madrid) and Prof. Jean Gayon (Institut d'Histoire et de la Philosophie des Sciences et des Techniques, Paris 1-Sorbonne). After obtaining her doctorate degree, she enjoyed a two years postdoc position at the KLI Institute at Klosterneuburg, Austria. In September 2015 she will join as a Juan de la Cierva fellow to the IAS research group, at the University of the Basque Country. Gerd B. Müller, M.D., Ph.D., is Professor of Zoology at the University of Vienna, Austria, where he heads the Department of Theoretical Biology. He is also President of the Konrad Lorenz Institute for Evolution and Cognition Research at Klosterneuburg, Austria. His research interests focus on evolutionary innovation, evo-devo theory, and the extension of the Evolutionary Synthesis. His preferred experimental model is the vertebrate limb. In addition, he is concerned with the development of micro-CT based quantitative tools in developmental biology.
