Rabindranath Tagore (1861-1941) was a writer, poet,playwright and painter who is world renowned for his work.He was the first non-European to have won the NobelPeace Prize for literature, for his collection of poetry titledGitanjali (1910). His contribution to Bengali literature isawe-inspiring with novels such as Gora (1910), Ghare-Baire(1916) and Jogajog (1929). He is also known for his plays,some of which are Raja (1910), Dak Ghar (1912), and RaktaKarabi (1926). Besides these, he also wrote essays anddiaries. He also created a number of drawing, paintingsand songs, one of which is the Indian National AnthemJana Gana Mana.
