The domestic sphere, the ideological as well as physical context of female life during the nineteenth century, featured prominently in German women's writing of the period. Daniela Richter is Assistant Professor of German at Central Michigan University. Born in Löbau, Germany, she completed her MA and PhD at the University of Texas at Austin. Her research focuses on cultural history and nineteenth-century German women's literature.
