EYAL PERETZ is Assistant Professor of Comparative Literature at Indiana University. He is the author of Literature, Disaster, and the Enigma of Power. A Reading of 'Moby-Dick.' ULRICH BAER is Professor of German and Comparative Literature at New York University.
