Elizabeth Abel is Associate Professor of English at the University of California, Berkeley; her books include Virginia Woolf and the Fictions of Psychoanalysis. Barbara Christian is Professor of African American Studies at the University of California, Berkeley; her books include Black Feminist Criticism: Perspectives on Black Women Writers.
