Snyder County
Snyder County was carved out of the southern portion of Union County in 1855. Named after Selinsgrove resident and Pennsylvania,s only three-term governor Simon Snyder (1808,1817), the county is unique in many ways. It is part of the extensive early-nineteenth-century Pennsylvania Canal System,s Susquehanna Division and home to one of the nation,s first coeducational colleges, Susquehanna University.
