Pamela Pfeiffer Hollinger taught in the Humanities course at The University of Akron for over 18 years before moving into administration there. For this text, she has authored the material on music and dance and co-authored the literature and art material. Her background in multimedia has made her a valuable resource in developing the text's ancillary program.Marvin Perry, now retired, taught history at Baruch College, City University of New York. He has published several successful Cengage Learning texts, including WESTERN CIVILIZATION: IDEAS, POLITICS, AND SOCIETY (senior author and general editor); WESTERN CIVILIZATION: A BRIEF HISTORY; the leading Western Civilization reader, SOURCES OF THE WESTERN TRADITION; AN INTELLECTUAL HISTORY OF MODERN EUROPE; SOURCES OF EUROPEAN HISTORY SINCE 1900 (senior editor); HUMANITIES IN THE WESTERN TRADITION (senior author and general editor); and WORLD WAR II IN EUROPE: A CONCISE HISTORY. Wayne Baker holds a Ph.D. from the University of Iowa and taught in the history department of The University of Akron from 1968 until his retirement in 2000. From 1990 to 1999, he was director of the Humanities in the Western Tradition course at Akron. His scholarly research focuses on the works of Heinrich Bullinger and John Calvin. He has published two monographs and co-edited a book, as well as many journal articles and book reviews.
