Über den Autor
Anne Baldassari, editorial director of this work, joined the Musée Picasso Paris as curator in 1992, and served as its director from 2005–10 and its president from 2010–14. From her arrival, she instigated a policy of research, exhibition, and publication dedicated to Picasso’s works that received international acclaim. She has curated numerous Exhibitions and published a vast body of work on Picasso, including Picasso and Photography (1997), Bacon–Picasso (2005), The Surrealist Picasso (2005), Picasso: Life with Dora Maar, Love and War 1939–1945 (2006), and Cubist Picasso (2007), all published by Flammarion, and contributed to Matisse–Picasso (The Museum of Modern Art, 2002). While the museum was closed for renovation, she organized the itinerant exhibition Picasso: Masterpieces from the Musée National Picasso, Paris, a major retrospective of Picasso’s oeuvre that was adapted for each of the host countries. The exhibition was held in a number of prestigious art establishments around the world—from Europe to China or Russia to North America—including the Seattle Art Museum (2010–11), the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, Richmond (2011), the de Young Museum, San Francisco (2011), and the Art Gallery of Ontario, Toronto (2012).
