AGAINST ALL ODDS

As I look back over my life 37 years ago, being diagnosed with Crohns' Disease, I know I am blessed, exhilarated, and fortunate to have overcome this disease. I often question in my mind was this a misdiagnosis? I know this dreadful disease does exist because over the years, I have heard of others being diagnosed with the same disease. Unfortunately, their situation did not have a happy ending. I am so blessed to be in position to tell my story of a happy ending. Once I stopped taking the steroids, continuing to feel pain free, I renounced every negative thing my first doctor told me, one thing after the other. Close friends have also inspired me to tell my story. What is so incredible is that 37 years ago, when I was first diagnosed, I believed in God, yet I was not giving him honor, glory and praise; as I should have. It was when I decided to step out on faith and stop taking the steroids, I now realize I was also stepping out on mustard seed faith. It was at that time, God spared my life and healed me. It was also at that time, I made a vow to not rely on any medications for an extended amount of time. I think the main ingredient to being free of medication is how you take care of yourself. I have learned to stay away from eating the foods that seem to upset my stomach, as well as exercising and drink lots of water. Other than Jesus, I believe this is what also has kept me medication free and pain free for 60 years!
