Few people know that Joy to the World - the world's most popular Christmas song - wasn't written for Christmas at all. Isaac Watts wrote it in imitation of Psalm 98. Isaac Watts (1674-1748) was a hymn writer and theologian. Widely recognized as the Father of English Hymnody, he is credited with some 750 hymns, many of which are still sung in churches all over the world.
