This book explores the life of Alick Jackomos, dubbed an honorary Koori at his funeral. The son of Greek migrant parents, Jackomos was born in Collingwood, Australia, and grew up during the Great Depression, mixing with people from a range of backgrounds. He was at different times a welfare worker, an activist, a public servant in Aboriginal affairs, an historian archivist, and a genealogist. Richard Broome was appointed associate professor of history at La Trobe University in 1992. He was appointed fellow of the Academy of the Humanities in 2006. Corinne Manning is an honorary research associate and oral historian at La Trobe University.
