He has written extensively on the (early) modern history of central Europe, e.g. The Making of the Habsburg Monarchy (2nd edn 1991). Peter H. Wilson, Ph.D. (1990) in History, University of Cambridge, is GF Grant Professor of History at the University of Hull. He has published extensively on the history of the Holy Roman Empire, including The Thirty Years War (Harvard, 2009).
