Benjamin Ginsberg is the David Bernstein Professor of Political Science and Director of the Center for Advanced Governmental Studies at the Johns Hopkins University.  He is the author or co-author of more than twenty-five books including What Washington Gets Wrong (with Jennifer Bachner, Prometheus/Random House) The Fall of the Faculty: The Rise of the All-Administrative University and Why It Matters (Oxford); Moses of South Carolina: A Jewish Scalawag During Radical Reconstruction (Johns Hopkins); The American Lie: Government By the People and Other Political Fables (Oxford); Presidential Power: Unchecked and Unbalanced (Norton); Downsizing Democracy: How America Sidelined Its Citizens and Privatized Its Public (Johns Hopkins); Politics By Other Means (Basic Books); The Fatal Embrace: Jews and the State (Chicago); The Consequences of Consent (Random House); American Government: Freedom and Power (Norton); We The People (Norton) and The Captive Public (Basic Books).  Ginsberg received his PhD from the University of Chicago in 1973. Before joining the Hopkins faculty in 1992, Ginsberg was Professor of Government at Cornell. Jennifer Bachner is Director of the Master of Science in Government Analytics and Certificate in Government Analytics at Johns Hopkins University. She is the author of What Washington Gets Wrong (with Benjamin Ginsberg, Prometheus/Random House) and the editor of Analytics, Policy and Governance (with Benjamin Ginsberg and Kathryn Wagner Hill, Yale University Press). Her report, Predictive Policing: Preventing Crime with Data and Analytics, has been published by the IBM Center for the Business of Government. As an expert on government analytics and political behavior, she has been quoted and/or cited in the Washington Post, Wall Street Journal, Baltimore Sun, Roll Call, Government Executive, and on NPR. Bachner received her PhD in government from Harvard University and undergraduate degrees in political science and social studies education from the University of Maryland, College Park.
