Michael Tonry is Sonosky Professor of Law and Public Policy at the University of Minnesota Law School, and Senior Fellow at the Netherlands Institute for the Study of Crime and Law Enforcement, Free University Amsterdam, and visiting professor at the University of Lausanne, Switzerland. He is the author or editor of more than 40 books, including Why Punish? How Much? (OUP 2011) and The Handbook of Crime and Punishment (OUP1998).
