Grant (1865-1937) was an American lawyer, writer, and zoologist known primarily for his work as a eugenicist/racist and as a conservationist, being one of the leading thinkers and activists of the Progressive Era. He was responsible for one of the most notorious works of scientific racism, The Passing of the Great Race (1916), and played an active role in crafting strong immigration restriction and anti-miscegenation laws in the US.
