Richard L. Tierney (1936 - ) is a poet, author, and editor of adventure fiction, mainly in the realm of dark fantasy. Since his mid-teens, he has been both a fan and scholar of H.P. Lovecraft, Robert E. Howard, Clark Ashton Smith, and other great names from the pulp fiction era. In 2010, he was nominated for the Science Fiction Poetry Association's Grandmaster Award. In 1961, Tierney earned a degree in Entomology (Iowa State College) and served for many years with the U.S. Forest Service in several of the western states and Alaska. A haunter of archaeological ruins by instinct, he has traveled widely, especially in Mexico, Central, and South America.
