Solubility enhancement of poorly soluble drug by SLN
Buch
Solid lipid nanoparticles(SLNs) have been proposed as suitable colloidal carriers of drug with limited solubility. Ibuprofen SLNs prepared from mixture of Bees wax, Carnauba wax, and Ozokerite wax using Tween 80 as Surfactant. The characteristics of the SLNs with various lipids and surfactant composition were investigated. The mean particle size of drug loaded SLNs decreased upon mixing with Tween 80 as well as upon increasing total surfactant concentration. The zeta potential of these SLNs varied in the range of -1.58 to -24.4(mV), suggesting the presence of similar interface properties. High drug Entrapment efficiency of 90.0% revealed the…

The zeta potential of these SLNs varied in the range of -1.58 to -24.4(mV), suggesting the presence of similar interface properties. High drug Entrapment efficiency of 90.0% revealed the ability of SLNs to incorporate a poorly water soluble drug such as Ibuprofen. SLNs of Ibuprofen with polymers (1:2, 1:3 & 1:4) was prepared by solvent Injection and Micro emulsion method. SLNs were characterized by FTIR, particle size and TEM. SLNs were then filled into transparent dialysis tube and evaluated for quality control tests.
