Construction of road pavement generates instability to the natural subsoil which encounters numerous engineering problems such as settlement, depression, sinkhole and faulting of subsoil. The conventional method of soil remediation work in subsoil such as crack sealing, patching potholes, overlays and grouting technique provide short term solutions to address those symptoms, but not the underlying problem. Norbaya Bt Haji Sidek completed her PhD in Geotechnical Engineering at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Universiti Teknologi MARA. She received her MSc. in Geotechnical Engineering and degree in Civil Engineering from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia(UTM). She is a senior lecturer at Faculty of Civil Engineering, UiTM Shah Alam since August 2009.
