Social reintegration of prisoners in the Republic of Benin

The court clerk, far from being a passive auxiliary, resolved only to take notes at the hearing, holds knowledge that can allow him to reflect on the problems of the judicial and penitentiary sector on the one hand, and to contribute effectively to the elaboration of appropriate solutions on the other hand. This work aims to demonstrate that the social reintegration of prisoners is far from being effective in the Republic of Benin. The specificity here, is observed by the contribution of the clerk, who is not an agent of the penitentiary field, but to whom the law has recognized attributions in this last one. It is a question of an in-depth analysis of the textual resources and of the practice in order to bring solutions to a problem that, in the strict sense, does not concern the clerk but, in the broad sense, challenges him. The inspection of the texts and institutions that justify the effectiveness of such a policy has made it possible to see that there is a limited approach to the latter and the decree on the prison regime does not deal with it in a concrete way in the Republic of Benin.
