Sex Education a Missed Opportunity in the Zambian Education System
Since the dawn of HIV and AIDS there has been general lack of knowledge about sex education as a way of preventing HIV infections in Zambia. In this particular study, both qualitative and quantitative designs were used. The combined approach provided an opportunity of using tools such as questionnaires, interviews and focus group discussions. From the findings of the study it was recommended that there was need for an intervention in the education system so that the education provided attended to the social needs. Martin Banda is a Lecturer for Sociology and is currently Head of Department of Educational Psychology and Sociology of Education at Kwame Nkrumah University-Zambia. He holds PhD and MA:Ed in Sociology of Education from the University of Zambia, a Bachelor of Arts with Education from the Catholic University of Eastern Africa.
